Our Early Years Department focuses on a play-based approach to learning. We see this is an important way to develop active learning which occurs when many cognitive functions are engaged through play and problem solving play-based tasks. When children play, they explore the world—and build on their understanding of the natural and social environments around them.
On the physical level, children work on both gross and fine motor development through play. Play-based learning provides an environment for children to discover their unique learning techniques and interests and allows them to develop an intrinsic interest in learning about the world around them. Socialising with their peers is part of their learning and different themes are introduced on a rotation every 6 weeks which enables these young students to continuously be engaged with their learning.
